Our TSLP Workshop equips legal professionals from all specialties with tools to engage clients in a trauma-informed manner. We cover scientific basics of psychological trauma, how trauma impacts clients and their experience in the legal process, and practical tools for solicitors, barristers, and support staff to best assist clients with trauma.
From burnout and toxic stress to poor boundaries and low resilience, our Wellbeing Workshop outlines the common psychological stressors faced by legal professionals. We then lay a framework for the prevention and correction of unhealthy coping mechanisms by providing practical tools for increasing and maintaining wellbeing and subjective life satisfaction.
Lawyers frequently encounter upsetting realities in their work with clients and can develop trauma vicariously while dealing with particularly difficult or personally relatable matters. Our Vicarious Trauma Workshop defines vicarious trauma in plain English and outlines its early warning signs, symptoms, and effects. We then provide practical tools for prevention and management.
Law is an infamously demanding career field, reflected inter alia by the disproportionately high rates of substance use and problematic drinking habits reported by lawyers. Our Substance Attachment and Coping Management Workshop outlines the science of unhealthy attachment before outlining a path to safer coping skills, self-regulation, and harm minimisation.

Trauma Sensitive Law was founded to bring contemporary legal practice into the modern age of trauma sensitivity, compassionate client care, and mental health awareness. The justice system is rife with unresolved trauma and mental health difficulty; we see it in our clients' personal backgrounds, in our own lives and coping behaviours, and at multiple stages of the legal process itself. Awareness of the science behind trauma and its impact on client behaviour and satisfaction allows legal practitioners to go beyond contracted advocacy and become a source of safe, engaged, healing justice for our clients. By educating ourselves on mental health and its role in the legal process, we can also better maintain our own wellbeing. We provide professional trainings and workshops that have been co-developed by legal and mental health professionals which equip lawyers with tools to achieve this holistic method of self- and client-care.
Trauma Sensitive Law believes that the best outcomes -- both legal and personal -- are made possible when both practitioners and clients are able to feel calm, committed, and in-control throughout their collaboration on a matter. Our values are formulated around this concept, meaning that we seek to both embody and encourage reliability, intentionality, attunement, and genuine understanding.

Anna Fischer, BPsych., JD (2025) founded Trauma Sensitive Law in 2024. After completing a dual-major Bachelor of Psychology and Sociology in 2021, Anna originally intended to obtain a professional doctorate in psychology and pursue a career as a clinical trauma specialist. However, while completing post-graduate training in trauma sensitivity, she encountered traumatic medical negligence which left her with lifelong consequences. This experience compelled her to change careers and become an advocate for vulnerable persons in the legal system. She began to pursue a Doctor of Law (JD) and has since dedicated herself to mastering the intersection between mental health and law, developing particular expertise in trauma-informed legal practice, lawyer wellbeing, resilience building, and vicarious trauma. Anna is now a keynote speaker, professional consultant, and guest lecturer for university-level law and criminology programs. She also develops and delivers trainings for professional bodies of solicitors in NSW and has been published by Thompson Reuters on including Restorative Justice and Culturally Informed Sentencing.
